New study reveals how tobacco from traditional or noncombusted cigarettes damages corneal cells

In most countries, cardboard cigarette packages display imagery or text that warns smokers of the increased risks of heart attacks, cancer, and pregnancy complications associated with smoking. Many of these risks are related to the inhalation of tobacco smoke through the mouth, but what is less often highlighted is the effect smoking can have on the surface of the eyes - including their most exposed layer, the cornea.
